Urology
Urology covers the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate and reproductive organs.
Problems commonly treated by urologists include benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, voiding dysfunction, kidney stones, kidney cancer, erectile dysfunction and scrotal swellings.
The Northern Trust is currently working in partnership with the Western Health and Social Care Trust to ensure waiting times are kept to a minimum and patients can access elective and non-elective urology services. As an interim measure all in-patient urology surgery for Northern Trust patients is being undertaken at Altnagelvin Hospital and day case surgery, diagnostic procedures and outpatients will continue to be provided at Causeway Hospital.
